Olivola is a municipality with 136 inhabitants on an hill, 280m asl, 19 km from Casale Monferrato and 30km from Alessandria. Olivola was suppressed and joined to Frassinello in April 1928, and recongnised again as autonomous on 1947.
Its Monferrato area is famous for the many “infernot”, a peculiar kind of architectonic structure, carved in sandstones and used for the domestic conservation of wine bottles.
The town center includes the parish church of San Pietro with Romanesque bell-tower. The economy is mainly agricultural.
