San Giorgio Monferrato is a municipality with 1.295 inhabitants, 281m asl and it covers an area of 710 hectares.

The built-up area is around the castle (“Castelli aperti” program of Basso Piemonte) on a small hill above the Asti-Casale road.

The San Giorgio territory made part since the origins of the Sant’Evasio district. The homonymous castle (belonging to Federico Barbarossa, as well as the village) is the most ancient in Monferrato.
