This municipality with 741 inhabitants borders the province of Asti, in Val Versa, and is located northwest of the province of Alessandria, about 43km from the capital, on the southern slope of the Montebaldo hill.

Alfianum appears in the most ancient documents and remains unaltered until 14th century. In 1863 Natta is added to the name: it was the name of the family, which starting from 1483 kept the land as a feud.

On the hill above the ancient village you can still find the ruins of the castle. In the San Marziano church from 17th century you can also find frescos of the painter Guglielmo Caccia and of the daughters, who were painters as well. In Alfiano Natta there is the estate of the Razzano castle, which is included in the “Castelli Aperti” system of Basso Piemonte.
